Sales promotion of products from Gifu Prefecture
at THE COVER NIPPON NEW YORK
From September 7th to 30th
Gifu Prefecture, located in the central region of Japan, is known for its beautiful landscape, full of nature and water. It is often called the “country of limpid streams”, as the streams that pass through the area has helped cultivate the region’s history and traditional crafts. These traditional crafts have been passed down to this day, and has brought many beautiful products one can only find in Gifu. Among the distinctive local crafts born in Gifu, we’ve focused on ceramics from the Tono area, Mino Washi (traditional handmade Japanese paper) from the Hida area, cutlery from the city Seki, and wood crafts from the Hida area, and introduce them as one collection or brand that highlights Gifu’s craftsmanship.
The Gifu Prefectural Government has been working on the distribution reform of Gifu crafts, and this promotion is part of its program “Feel Gifu. It is Japan”, which started in 2009 in Thailand and Hong Kong. While promoting tourism, food and products of Gifu as one total brand, THE COVER NIPPON NEW YORK focuses on the true traditional techniques by craftsmen of Gifu, while adding a stylish atmosphere made only possible in NYC.
